Police Blotter: Lorton Man Drowns in Pohick Bay

The following items are from recent police updates through Sept. 28 from the West Springfield and Franconia police districts of the Fairfax County Police Department. Drowning in Pohick Bay (marked in red on above map), A 58-year-old Lorton man drowned in the waters of Pohick Bay around 3:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24. John R. Funk, of 10000 block of Midway Lane, was seen fishing from a kayak. Witnesses saw the kayak capsize about 100 yards from shore and the victim was seen swimming toward shore.
