West Potomac Beats South County

The Wolverines' record is now 3-0 after beating the South County Stallions 49-39.

After spending most of the game neck and neck Friday night, the West Potomac Wolverines beat the South County Stallions 49-39 in Lorton. Before the game started, Gerry Pannoni — head coach for South County — said he was concerned about West Potomac's quarterback, Caleb Williams (#17), their running back Demornay Pierson-El (#5) and their kicker Chris Blewitt (#16). "The key is running back Demornay Pierson-El," said Pannoni.  "In their first two games, he made a bunch of big plays," he said. "Pierson-El, the quarterback and the kicker can control the game just by field position." In turn, Wolverines Head Coach Jeremiah Davis had his concerns about South County. One thing for the writer, and I noticed it last week, too: when a team scores a touchdown they then get a chance to go for what is called an "extra point" or "point after touchdown." Man With Stun Gun Injures Two Students At West Potomac High School

20-year-old suspect was released on personal recognizance

A 20-year-old Alexandria man is in custody after entering West Potomac High School and using a stun gun on one teenage student and physically assaulting another after school on Monday, Oct. 3. Kevin C. Pengarthit, of the 8000 block of Lynnfield Dr. in Alexandria, allegedly entered the school around 5 p.m. and used a stun gun on a 14-year-old male and physically assaulted a 15-year-old male. He turned himself in to the Mount Vernon District Police Station on Oct. 6.  According to police, Pengarthit had a personal dispute with the victims, who suffered minor injuries.  Pengarthit was charged with two counts of assault and battery.
