South County's 'Stallions for Servicemen' Collecting Gifts For Troops in Afghanistan

It can be rough being stationed overseas during the holidays.

South County High School students are collecting travel-size personal gifts for U.S. troops stationed in Afghanistan. The annual "Stallions for Servicemen" fundraiser collected $18,000 last year, and this year, with a goal of $20,000, students will collect shampoo, deodorant, razors, handiwipes and other personal health items to service men and women from Ft. Belvoir, and who are currently serving in Afghanistan.  “We’re grateful for everyone who can donate something,” said senior Brittan Robinson, president of Stallions for Servicemen. “If gathering these items can help make their deployment a little more comfortable, then I’m going to do all I can to get as much to them as possible.” South County students will hear from vets in the …
