Woodbridge Man Perishes in I-495 Collision

The accident was the second involving a Woodbridge resident on the highway in five minutes.

A Woodbridge man died in an accident on Interstate 495 Tuesday afternoon, according to the Virginia State Police.  After the accident, Richard L. Edwards, 24, of Woodbridge, was taken to Fairfax Inova Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.  Virginia State Police responded to the scene of the two-vehicle crash at 2:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-495 at Braddock Road, in Fairfax County. Corinne Geller, a spokeswoman for VSP, said that a Edwards was driving a box truck north on I-495 and did not stop in time for a work zone safety vehicle that stopped in the right travel lane.
