Group says they plan "open carry march" from Virginia into Washington, DC.
Talk about fireworks. A group that says it plans to march from Virginia into DC on the Fourth of July with loaded guns — a violation of DC gun laws — is being met with resistance by DC's Chief of Police Cathy Lanier. "Passing into the district with loaded firearms is a violation of the law and it will be treated as such,” Lanier said during an interview with NewsChannel 8. Lanier says police will stop the march on the Arlington Memorial Bridge, mentioned as the route to be taken by the group. A spirited conversation is going on about plain-clothes officers being refused service because they were armed. The establishment says it was a mistake; readers have had plenty to say.
Our Manassas Patch has been blowing up with comments over an incident in which an employee at Buffalo Wild Wings refused service to eight police officers, apparently because they were displaying their weapons. The manager of Buffalo Wild Wings has apologized, but that hasn't stopped the comments from flowing. Said one commenter: "The store has a no-gun policy. An officer that is off duty, should have to regard the store policy just as any other citizen..." And another: "News flash! There is no such thing as an off duty police officer. The discussion was closed to the public, but in remarks outside the panel he said the group reached a “broad consensus” that certain parties should be denied access to guns. They include convicted felons, those guilty of domestic violence and those who are legally found to not be capable because of mental capacity. Supervisors Chair Sharon Bulova wants county's gun turn-in service better publicized.
Fairfax County officials are looking into hosting events for residents to hand over unwanted guns for destruction. The initiative is resulting from last month's massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. Sharon Bulova, chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, asked staff during the Board’s meeting Tuesday to publicize more heavily the county’s existing gun turn-in service so residents might be encouraged to get rid of their firearms. “Many residents have contacted my office to voice concern regarding guns,” Bulova said. “Most residents do not realize that Fairfax County provides a voluntary gun turn-in service.” Unwanted or unneeded firearms and ammunition can be turned into the Fairfax County Police Department…

Worse than a room full of raccoons.
Pre-rant clarification: I am not a Resident Evil fan. I’ve actually never played one before this because I never owned an original Playstation and even when I had a PS2 I quickly traded it in for an Xbox at the persuasion of a friend. The first one to become available on the 360 was Resident Evil IV, and I didn’t see the point of playing the fourth installment (or rather something like the fifteenth if you count all the remakes and spinoffs and side stories and crap). So anyway, yeah, I’m not a fan or even a vet. The free online series is better than most mainstream titles
This week I shall explore arguably the most underappreciated medium of modern gaming: free online games. If you don’t know, there are literally thousands of simple games available for free. All they take is a Google search. For free online games, I recommend ArmorGames.com. Funnily enough, game developers have managed to swindle people into paying to have them on their smart phones (guilty). Example: the casual gaming phenomenon known Angry Birds, which to date has grossed over $1 billion in games and merchandise, is a simple palette swap of any of the hundreds of tower destruction-type games that are available online for free and had been for years before Angry Birds was first released.
