The victim was not hurt.
A 31-year-old woman was assaulted while walking in Lorton on Thursday morning. The victim was walking in the area of Timarand Court and Timarand Drive at around 10:45 a.m. when an unknown man approached her from behind and touched her inappropriately. The victim was not injured and the suspect fled and was not found. The suspect is a white male in his 30s, between five-foot-two and five-foot-six, and wore a tan T-shirt, black pants and a baseball cap. Cameron Serafin, 5, was supposed to be returned to his father on Sunday; authorities have issued a warrant for his mother.
Five-year-old Cameron Serafin was supposed to return Sunday to his father in Great Falls. But he never came home, say Fairfax County police, who asked for the public's help Thursday in finding the missing child. According to police, Cameron is believed to be with his mother, Rebecca Serafin, 32. Serafin was supposed to return the child to his father on Sunday. A warrant has been issued for Serafin’s arrest on charges of custodial interference, a misdemeanor, police said. Detectives say they have reason to be concerned about the boy's welfare. There was no address available for Cameron's mother. Fairfax Police Officer Shelley Broderick said Cameron and his mother could be anywhere. A woman reportedly was grabbed Thursday afternoon in Kingstowne Towne Center. Police suspect the incident to be connected to previous serial groper incidents.
Fairfax County Police responded to a possible 24th report in the series of Springfield groping assaults at around 3 p.m. Thursday, after a 31-year-old woman was assaulted by a man in the 5900 block of Kingstowne Towne Center. According to Public Information Officer Lucy Caldwell, the victim said she was followed by the man into the Home Goods store, which Caldwell said is distinctly different from the 23 incidents reported in the past six months where the victim were approached from behind on a public street. The man grabbed the victim then fled, according to police. Other shoppers attempted to help, but the man still got away from the area, Caldwell said Thursday afternoon. UPDATE: Patrick Early, 57, of Washington, D.C. has been identified as the pedestrian killed killed on the evening of March 11 on the Fairfax County Parkway near Fort Belvoir. Early's identity was witheld pending next of kin notification. Early, who had no fixed address, and was struck by a 1997 Ford pick-up truck at around 11:20 p.m. in an unlit section of the Fairfax County Parkway going south near Ehlers Road. "He was standing in the roadway. We don't know why," said Fairfax County Police spokesperson Lucy Caldwell. "The driver saw the person standing there, he braked but it was too late." After hearing about serial groper incidents, C&J Security Corporation offered its services through Fairfax County Police Department free of charge.
Wht serial groper is still our there, and on Saturday, 12 women gathered at Crestwood Elementary School in Springfield to take a women's self defense class. In light of the series of unsolved assaults that have occurred in the Springfield area since September, retired Fairfax County Police Officer Frank Cresswell said it was time to conduct a class in the Franconia District. Cresswell is president of C&J Security, and was not paid for the class, according to FCPD Public Information Officer Lucy Caldwell "I heard about the assaults, and I'm just afraid this will escalate," Cresswell told Patch Saturday.
