Welcome to Monday, October 24! 1. On Oct. 24, 1926, Harry Houdini made his last performance at the Garrick Theatre in Detroit, Michigan. Suffering from Peritonitis, Houdini had a 104 degree temperature and passed out onstage. After being revived, he concluded the performance and was taken to Grace Hospital, where he died on Halloween at age 52. 2. This day in 1929, also known as "Black Thursday", spelled doom for millions. The stock market crashed, the U.S. economy went with it and the Great Depression followed. 3.
