PHOTOS: Virginian Tim Kaine Sworn In to U.S. Senate

Kaine said he is "rested and ready."

Tim Kaine was sworn in Thursday as the newest Senator from Virginia. Vice President Joe Biden presided over the mock ceremony after the official one on the Senate floor, and Anne Holton, Kaine's wife, proudly held a bible as her husband was sworn in as Virginia's junior Senator at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.  "I feel wonderful — rested and ready," Kaine said at a reception in his honor at the Hart Senate Office Building. Anne Holton Visits Capital Area Food Bank

The food bank is in need of donations

Anne Holton, wife of Virginia's Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Tim Kaine, stopped by the Capital Area Food Bank on Tuesday in Lorton. Holton dropped off bags of groceries from her husband's campaign office, and spent an hour filling lunch bags for needy kids.  "I came to highlight the great work these guys are doing, and how important it is during these tough days," said Holton to Patch. Holton, whose spouse was also governor of Virginia, is also a former first lady of the Commonwealth. The Capital Area Food Bank hosts numerous programs, and Holton was participating in the Weekend Bag Program, which distributes lunch bags for 700 kids at 56 schools and community centers throughout the DC Metro area.   "We need more donations because the …

Former Virginia first lady Anne Holton is going full speed ahead campaigning for husband Tim Kaine, the former governor who hopes to get elected to the U.S. Senate come November. Most polls show a race between Democrat Kaine and probable GOP candidate George Allen as "neck and neck" as Holton herself put it Saturday. Married more than 25 years, Holton and Kaine first met when both were students at Harvard Law School. Today Anne is a wife, mother and lawyer, and a campaigner, a role she said she will increase as the election nears. She traveled to Northern Virginia Saturday from her family's home in Richmond, making stops in Leesburg, Vienna and Reston. In Vienna, Holton criss-crossed the town on a blustery spring day, visiting owners and …
