The Stallions Fought Hard.
The South County Stallions girls varsity soccer team lost 3-2 to the undefeated Stone Bridge Bulldogs on Thursday night in the second round of the Northern Region Girls Soccer Tournament. The Bulldogs will move on to play Yorktown on May 29. The playoffs are single-elimination. To find your team, click on the bracket above. There's still time to sign up!
The are only a few days left to sign up for the 7th Annual South County Golf Classic at the Laurel Hill Golf Club. The competition will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thurs. May 23, 2013. It costs $150 per person to play register, and the proceeds benefit the South County High School athletic department. The price of admission also gets you: Mulligans cost $10 apiece, or $40 for five. The Turf SoCo campaign has begun.
The South County Athletic Boosters want their Stallions to play on fields that will stay green through the roughest of winters. The group, along with the South County Athletic Association, recently announced the Turf SoCo Campaign. The goal is to raise $1.3 million for two turf fields. The man-made turf fields are rubber, and, according to the Fairfax County Park Authority: The Boosters and the SCAA will hold the Turf SoCo Campaign kick-of meeting at South County High School on Tues., May 28, from 7-8 p.m. in the auditorium.

The Stallions are on their way.
The South County High School varsity boys lacrosse team (11-3) defeated Westfield 10-9 in overtime on Tuesday night in the first round of the Northern Region Boys Lacrosse Tournament. The Stallions play Langley on Friday night at home. Langley (12-6) crushed Washington-Lee 17-2 on Tuesday to advance to the second round. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter! The South County High School varsity softball team is entering this year's Patriot District Tournament on top. With a 17-1 record, the Stallions will play their first tournament game at home Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Should they move on, the Stallions will play Friday in the District Semifinals, followed Monday by the District finals. There is one senior on the Stallions roster this season, so expect more results from this team next season. The team will also play in the regional playoffs (all games begin at 7 p.m.): Go Stallions! Where and when to watch.
You won't be able to catch the Washington Capitals at the Verizon Center until Friday, at least, but you can watch them try to up their 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs series lead to 3-1 over the New York Rangers in and around Lorton. The Caps hold a 2-1 series lead going into Wednesday's game. SBNation has some great video highlihgts of the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs. They play in New York at 7:30 p.m. The game will be televised by TSN2, RDS2, NBCSN, CSN-DC and MSG. How far will he take the Stallions?
South County High School has a new varsity basketball coach. Travis Hess, the former head coach the Langley Saxons, comes to Stallion territory with an impressive 18-3 record. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter! Hess, who taught math at Langley for eight years, led Langley to four consecutive district championships and three regional final four appearances. He has been awarded the Patriot District Coach of the Year honor five times. Hess received his degree in mathematics from Bloomsburg University and his Masters in Educational Leadership from George Mason University. He has taught probability and statistics, algebra 1 and 2 and trigonometry. Good luck Coach Hess! Go Stallions!

March Madness comes to an end Monday night with Michigan and Louisville vying for the NCAA Championship.
