Winter. Dead. (Patch photo by Todd Richissin, who danced on the grave.)

Nice article and fun facts. Not sure what forecast you're looking at, though. Mine says snow TuesdayRead More night!

Spring snow, Arva! The old man's dead. Or so I wish. " (We'll consider Tuesday's chance of snowRead More showers a brief evil side of spring.)"
Davin Peterson March 21, 2014 at 12:26 pm
It may be spring, but there is a chance of snow Tuesday night into Wednesday of next week.

I *do* hope (but am not convinced) the officials are looking at what's best for the FBI's needs -Read More and thus the Nation's - instead of what's best for a small subset here in Northern Virginia.

The last thing Northern Virginia needs is more police (an agency like the FBI would require moreRead More security) and more traffic. Let Maryland get this one. They deserve it. We already have the CIA, the Pentagon, Ft. Belvoir, and a bunch of other stuff. Do we really need the FBI in a region that has the 2nd worst traffic, with only Los Angeles being the next one?

Jerry Lyons was among the most generous, insightful and funny people I've ever met. Whenever I spokeRead More to him, I always felt a bit better for it. He was the type of person that makes a good community a great community and that was certainly the case for Mason Neck. In the year or so that I knew Jerry his contributions to his community were immense, so it's hard to fathom the amount of people whose lives he touched over the course of a lifetime. I extend my deepest condolences to Sally and the rest of the Mason Neck community. Jerry will be missed. Hopefully, this time of loss will be tempered with the recognition of the warmth and wisdom Jerry brought to so many people throughout his time on earth. -Shawn Drury

This is a beautifully written tribute to a real gentleman who made extraordinary contributions toRead More our community in many different areas, and charmed everyone he met along the way with his laid-back manner, wit, and extraordinary sense of humor.

Gil was a dear, dear friend, both personally and professionally. As the Mount Vernon District ParkRead More Authority member, he taught me much about customer service, about listening to all sides, and he demonstrated that it is possible to be kind even when delivering a negative response. As a close friend, he demonstrated his concern for those around him with his patient audience, and gentle smile; with his deference, and very quiet outpouring of assistance. He was a truly unique man with many wonderful stories, and the occasional saucy joke. I believe Gil had a mission to improve the day of everyone he encountered. He touched many lives with his humor, compassion, and boundless good will. He will be deeply missed, and remembered with great love.

I have frequented the Woodlawn Roy Rogers alot over the years. I ate their with my wife in July andRead More Jeff Todd was there that day. He could have gotten a low level employee to wash the windows of the building, but he was doing it himself. One could see he took pride in his establishment and was a hands-on owner who seemed a regular guy and probably saw himself that way. I was saddened when I saw the sign at the door of the restaraunt announcing Jeff's passing. God bless his family during this tragic time.

Don't know the man ... I wish I did. I remember being treated so warmly by the manager at theRead More Manchester Lakes Roys ... can't help to think this was a reflection of the owner and what he expected.

Jeff and Becky started their family and their legacy here in Rose Hill. He remained a friend to theRead More community and the Franconia Museum. I was fortunate to be able to call him a friend, just as I had his dad. The transition from dad to son as far as community and family spirit is concerned was a marvel to behold. Needles to say, we'll miss him. We pledge our prayers and support for Becky and the children. Carl Sell, president Rose Hill Civic Association
