The Milkshake Duo, 'Fame - The Musical' and Building Mountain Bike Trails in Lorton

Here's what's on the docket this weekend in Lorton.

Welcome to the weekend! Have questionable plans? Here’s a few things to fill up your calendar this weekend in the area.

1. On Saturday, enjoy the music of the Grammy-nominated “Milkshake Duo” at the Burke Lake Park Amphitheater at 10:00 a.m. By the way, this is the last performance for the summer concert series at the park.

2. The Metropolitan Performing Arts Theatre will be presenting “Fame - The Musical”, at the Workhouse Arts Center on Aug. 23, 24, 29, 30 and 31 at 7:30 p.m. and at 3:00 p.m. on Aug. 25.

3. Don’t miss the Workhouse’s latest exhibition: Inner Librare, which features artist's books, book objects and book experiences from Sat., Aug. 24 - Oct. 6, 2013.  

4. And speaking of the Workhouse, don’t miss the Mount Vernon Nights Concert Series on the quad on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. by tango artists QuinTango.

5. The Bureau of Land Management needs volunteers to help build mountain bike trails at the Meadowood Special Recreation Management Area in Lorton. Those interested need to meet at the Trail Head Parking Lot, 10324 Belmont Blvd., Lorton, and sign in at 8:45 a.m. Work as long as you want until 3:00 p.m. Water, snacks and tools are provided.
