S'mores, A Civil War Forum, Transportation Meeting and More This Week

This week in Fairfax County: 

Monday is Veterans Day

If you’re interested in transportation issues in Fairfax County, there’s a public meeting this week for you. Transportation officials are hosting public dialog sessions Tuesday and Wednesday. You can learn about unfunded transportation projects for the county and more. The first meeting is at 7 p.m. at Tuesday at the Fairfax County Government Center on 12000 Government Center Parkway in Fairfax. The second meeting is at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Edge Elementary School on 1501 Becontree Lane in Reston.

Sit in for a wagon ride that promises s’mores, a campfire, and stories. The event by the Fairfax County Park Authority is at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cabells Mill at Ellanor C. Lawrence Park on 5040 Walney Road in Chantilly. 

Check out Langley High School’s interpretation of Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women. The musical premieres at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the school on 6520 Georgetown Pike in McLean. You can buy tickets online

Are you a history buff? The Fairfax Station Railroad Museum is hosting a Civil War Forum at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at 11200 Fairfax Station Road in Fairfax Station. Historian Ron Beavers will discuss railroad operations during the Civil War.

The Lorton Community Action Center is hosting their Service Stroll from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday at the Workhouse Arts Center on 9601 Ox Road in Lorton. Take a walk at the arts center then drop in for the Home for Dinner Exhibition, which features the work of local elementary school students. Their works detail what “home for dinner” meets for them, according to the LCAC’s website. Register online.
