Where to Stay Cool in the Lorton Area This Weekend

Lorton's temperatures to hit 100 degrees.

Short on small talk? Well, it's gonna be 100-plus degrees this weekend, again, which is all anyone's gonna be talking about the next couple of days. The National Weather Service has issued an "Excessive Heat Watch" for Friday, and the heat index could get to 110 degrees on Saturday or Sunday.  

So, what are you going to do about it? Patch has a few ideas and locations for staying cool.

Late June will feel like late August this weekend as temperatures reach the upper 90s Thursday through Monday. The high temperature will be 93 with sun on Thursday; a high of 98 on a partly cloudy Friday; a sunny 99 on Saturday and 101 on Sunday. Temps will drop back to 96 Monday and 92 Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service extended forecast.

Hours: 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. (6 p.m. on July 4)

South Run RecCenter, Springfield
Hours: Mon-Fri 6:30 a.m. - 9:30 p.m., Sat 9 a.m.-6p.m., Sun 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. 
Fees: Between $6.50 and $10.50 per person 

Hours: 10 a.m. - 11 p.m. Monday-Sunday

Hours: Doors open at 5 p.m., dinner served at 7 p.m. and the curtain rises at 8 p.m.
Fees: Between $25 for students and $41 for regular admission
