Update: U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship at Laurel Hill Golf Club is Around the Corner

Volunteers are still needed for the tournament.

The 2013 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship tournament at the Laurel Hill Golf Club will bring some of the best golfers in the country to Lorton. The tournament will be held July 15-20.

"It's going to be a big deal and we're very excited about it," said Kirk Mason, the general manager of the Laurel Hill Golf Course. "These are amateur golfers, who, for the most part, no one on the public side will know about, but they will know them several years from now." 

Between 500-700 spectators are expected at the golf club during the tournament. 

The U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship began in 1922 as an opportunity for public-course players to compete in the Master's tournament. Previous amateur winners include: 

Volunteer to Help Out

Over 400 volunteers have signed up to assist the park for the tournament. 

"We're certainly love to have all interested in volunteering to come out," said Mason. "We would be happy to use them."
