Hayfield girls soccer picks up well-deserved tie

A recap of yesterday’s sports scores from Lorton area schools.

BASEBALL

Hayfield fell to Washington-Lee 4-1, for their first defeat of the year. Justin Dreschel pitched well in a complete game loss as the Hawks could not capitalize offensively, leaving several runners in scoring position. Josh Eldridge had two hits to pace Hayfield.

The Hawks will look to return to the win column tonight at Stuart.

Hayfield’s girls squad earned an impressive 1-1 tie versus defending National District champ Washington-Lee. Tarah Coley scored for the Hawks and Lizeth Alvarado and Darlene Romero also played well. Hayfield travels to Falls Church tomorrow.

Hayfield’s boys fell to Washington-Lee, 8-0. They will look to bounce back tomorrow versus Falls Church.

South County boys lost 3-2 to Oakton. They’re at West Springfield tomorrow.

TENNIS

Hayfield's boys were edged 5-4 by Wakefield. Saif Khan, William Haas and Kwang Rae Kim won in singles for the Hawks. Khan and Allen Oronce won in doubles.

The South County boys also lost a 5-4, nailbiter, theirs came to West Springfield. Jack Proctor and Adam Epstein won singles matches. In doubles, winners wereProctor and Spenser Bullock and  Matt Gates and Tyler Lam. The Stallions take on Woodson today.
