Lorton Photo of the Day: Stopping at Nothing at CrossFit Liberation

There's no stopping U.S. Army Capt. Mark Little (ret.). Little spent eight years in the Army, and, 13 months ago found a new home away from home - Lorton's .

Little, 29, lost his legs from an EFP (Explosively Formed Penetrator) in southern Iraq in 2007. 

"An EFP is basically an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) on steroids," Little told Patch. "I was leading a convoy like I'd done hundreds of times before, and we got out on a main road and boom."

Little, who lives in Fairfax with his wife Alicia, walked into CrossFit Liberation last summer, and was impressed with owner Atom Ziniewicz, a former Green Beret. "I walked in and Atom looked down and said, 'Can you run in those things?' I said I could, and he said, 'Follow me,' and took off running down the street."

Since then, Little has lost 50 pounds. "This is the best family you can have," he said. "Everyone's super supportive. If you're not pushing each other you're backing each other up."
