Scores from South County and Hayfield

Yesterday was a busy day in local sports as the Spring season is now nearing full swing.

SOCCER

Hayfield’s girls’ team picked up its first win of the year, with a 4-0 victory over TC Williams. Tarah Coley and Natalie Fry each had two goals, all of which came in the first half.

The girls look to continue their winning ways at McLean next Monday.

The Hayfield boys played well in a narrow 2-1 defeat to a tough TC Williams squad. A Freddy Bonilla goal allowed the Hawks to tie the match at one after falling behind, but the Titans had a little too much. In addition to Bonilla, Roberto Flores, Obed Campos and Fernando Seas played well for Hayfield.

LACROSSE

The South County boys were on the short end of a 14-3 score against a strong Woodson team. The Stallions were plagued penalties and turnovers but Coach John Nolan’s squad continues to improve and will have a week of a practice before their game at Centreville next Tuesday.

The girls at South County also fell to Woodson, 18-7. They also have a week off before hosting Centreville next Tuesday.

TENNIS

South County’s boys fell 9-0 to a very good Lake Braddock team. The Stallions are now 1-1 on the year and will try to add another to the win column tomorrow at Woodson.

BASEBALL

Hayfield routed Stuart 21-5, with Corey Spera picking up the win. Josh Eldridge and Bryan DiRosario smashed homers to pace the Hawks offense.
