Local Baseball Teams Still Unbeaten

Both Hayfield and South County are unblemished

Baseball

South County remained unbeaten on the season with an 11-4 rout of highly-regarded Woodson. Tyler Frazier pitched six strong innings while his teammates pummeled Cavalier pitching. For a more detailed recap click here.

The Stallions travels to Alexandria to take on TC Williams on Monday.

Hayfield also remained unbeaten with a 13-7 win over Wakefield. At the early stage of the campaign the Hawks have already tied the single-season record for homeruns. Cameron Lundmark, Josh Eldridge and Bryan DiRosario all went deep and drove in 11 runs between them with Lundmark and Eldridge plating four each. Michael Askew got the win in an emergency start.

Hayfield travels to Yorktown on Tuesday.

Softball

The potent offensive attack that is Hayfield routed Wakefield 25-2 in five innings. Megan Perry-Shifflett drove home five with four hits including a homer and a double. Her sister Sam had three hits, two of which were doubles that scored two. Taryn McElehenny had four RBI on three hits and Brittany Creamer sent home four with two hits. Taylor Neuhart and Katelyn Thorne both returned to the lineup after injuries.

The Hawks are at Yorktown on Tuesday.

South County was edged 8-7 by Woodson in 11 innings. They will look to get back in the win column against TC Williams tomorrow.

Soccer

The Stallions girls defeated Lake Braddock 4-1 thanks to a go-ahead goal from Summer Petterson in the final minutes of the first half. For a more detailed recap click .

The Stallions have Senior Night on Tuesday when they host Woodson.

The Hayfield boys continued to play in tough luck as they fell to 2-1 to Stuart. The Hawks played well with four players being called up from the JV squad: Alex Tsegaye, Michael Gallamo, Dylan Hendrickson and Andreas Paz. Hendrickson assisted on Freddy Garcia. The Hawks also received solid play from Fernando Seas and Mohamed Khairy, who played well in goal and defense respectively.

On Tuesday Hayfield will try to break into the win column when they host Wakefield.

Tennis

South County’s boys team swept Lee 9-0. Singles winners were: Spenser Bullock, Daniel Shlossman, Tyler Lam, Matt Masakayan, Jack Proctor, and Adam Epstein.

Double winners were the teams of Shlossman and Masakayan, Lam and Proctor, and Matt Gates and Brian Powell.

The Stallions play host to Annandale tomorrow.

The South County girls got past Lee 8-1. They travel to Annandale tomorrow.
