Douglass won the event by two strokes last year in very cold and windy conditions. The boys’ field is very deep this year. A number of players like Erik Dulik (Great Falls) and Wonsuk Rhee (Vienna) had successful 2012 seasons and are looking to start their 2013 season off with a victory. Other local notables in the field include Brandon Duda (Lorton), Adam Szwed (Woodbridge), as well as Tyler Spears, Demitri Keopradit, Andrew Johnson, and Benjamin Lowry, all of Springfield.

The Girls division has a record 30 girls and is very strong as well. Lee was a top contender in all of her events in 2012 and earned a spot to play in both the Junior PGA Championship and the MAPGA Capital Cup for Team Maryland.  Competing for Lee’s title will be junior stand-outs Lila Taylor (McLean), Alexa Calomiris (Washington D.C.), and Kathleen Hanley (Kensington, Md.)
