The South County Stallions (0-2) face the undefeated West Potomac Wolverines this Friday.
Each week, we'll check in with the Stallions to see how they're preparing for the game ahead.
If there's one thing on which the head football coaches at South County and West Potomac can agree, it's that Friday will be a hard fought battle.
The Stallions, led by Gerry Pannoni, hope to rely on their defense. Pannoni will be focusing on the Stallions' running game.
Wolverines head coach Jeremiah Davis doesn't take South County's 0-2 record for granted.
Here's what they had to say about the matchup:
Head Coach Gerry Pannoni of South County: "We have focused very hard on taking great angles for our run fits, and also pushed the kids hard in pursuits. For us to be successful in the game we have to control (running back) Pierson- El and (quarterback) Williams offensively, they are their big play guys. Offensively we have to control the ball and not leave any points on the field."
Head Coach Jeremiah Davis of West Potomac: "As in last week this week we face another team who went to the state championship game last year. They have the leadership and know how to win tough games. They are 0-2 but they have only lost by a total of eight points so they are one play away from winning their games thus far. They have athletes at the skill position and a qb who can run throw and score. So we will have our hands full defending their attack. Our keys to victory will be to control the ball play great special teams and contain their athletes. We are not taking this game lightly and have had a great week of practice."
Gametime is 7:30 p.m. at .
