103-Year-Old Woman Wins Gold Medal in Northern Virginia Senior Olympics

Her event was Wii bowling.

Doris Woodring, a 103-year-old resident of the Westminster and Lake Ridge Retirement Community, won a gold medal at the Northern Virginia Senior Olympics on Tues., Sept. 10, 2013 at the Greenspring Retirement Community in Springfield. 

Woodring, who also competed in Scrabble on Monday, is the eldest competitor in the games. 

“She was an inspiration to the youngsters in their 80’s and 90’s,” said Wendy Straub, the Wii bowling event director.

Woodring will be on-hand on Mon. Sept. 9, for the Mexican Train Dominoes event.
