This Week at Lorton Schools

Back in the swing of things after Turkey Day

After an extra long weekend due to the Thanksgiving holiday, schools in the Lorton area crank it up again this week. Here are some of the outside-the-classroom highlights.

Tuesday

If Laurel Hill ES students weren't able to attend the first picture day, there will be a make-up day today.

Later in the day, starting at 5:30 p.m., Newington Forest ES has a Holiday Bazaar and Outback Night. Parents can get a head start on holiday shopping and enjoy some food courtesy of Outback Steakhouse.

At South County Secondary School, it's a special night for the best of the best students. They get inducted into the National Honor Society. The ceremony runs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Wednesday

The following night at SCSS, teacher Michael Ward gives a Faculty Guitar Recital from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Silver Box Theatre.

Lorton Station ES also opens up December musically. A Dine Around event will be held from 5p.m.– 8p.m. at King Street Blues in 5810 Kingstowne Center, Suite 160, Alexandria, VA 22315. es

Thursday

 It's Papa John's Pizza night from 5 to 10 tonight at Gunston Elementary School.

And Newington Forest ES will have Part II of its Holiday Bazaar.

At SCSS it's the Craft and Vendor Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
