Stallion field hockey, football and volleyball from September 21 to September 27

South County Field Hockey (7-3):

South County field hockey went 1-1 this week, bringing their win total to 7 on the season. The Stallions blanked Lee (1-8) 4-0 on Wednesday, September 21, but lost their second contest of the year against Westfield (10-2) 0-3 on Friday, September 23.

The Stallions are now 3-0 in Patriot district play. With only six games remaining on the regular season schedule, the team will look to finish strong. The team hosts Langley (5-6) on Wednesday, September 28 and travel to T.C. Williams (7-5-1) on Friday, September 30.

JV Field Hockey (2-1-3):

After tying three games this year, South County’s JV field hockey team won games against Lee and Westfield. The Stallions defeated Lee 3-0 on Wednesday, September 21 and also grabbed a 2-1 road victory over Westfield later in the week.

South County travels to Langley on Wednesday, September 28 and to T.C. Williams on Friday, September 30.

South County Football (1-3):

The Stallions  on Friday, September 23 at home against T.C. Williams (1-3). The team gained 294 yards of total offense in the 35-13 victory. Stallion QB Shane Foley passed for 118 yards and added a passing and rushing touchdown. Timmy Hunt also scored offensively and defensively. The Stallion defense forced three turnovers and held the T.C. Williams offense to 161 total yards on the evening.

South County hosts Robinson (1-3) on Friday, September 30. The Rams have scored just 34 points in four games this season and are coming off of a 28-0 loss to Westfield (4-0).

JV Football (1-1):

JV moved to .500 on the season after falling 36-32 to T.C. Williams on Saturday, September 24. The team plays at Robinson on Saturday, October 1.

South County Volleyball (12-4):

South County volleyball continued its torrid streak, winning six games in five days. The Stallions defeated Chantilly (4-2) 3-1 on Wednesday, September 21, completing their regular season sweep of the Chargers.

After dropping their Titan Clash tournament opener 2-1 to the Centreville Wildcats (8-7), the Stallions rattled off four straight victories en route a tournament championship rematch against Centreville. This time however, the Stallions avenged their loss and defeated the Wildcats 2-0 and won the 2011 Titan Clash volleyball tournament.

Two days later on Monday, September 26, the team defeated Herndon 3-0 at home.

Up next, the Stallions host Robinson (6-6) on Monday, October 3 before traveling to Woodson (11-1) on Wednesday, October 5 for a highly anticipated matchup between two of the area’s hottest programs.
