Fairfax County Public Schools posted the following on its Facebook page Friday afternoon:

"FCPS is making all necessary preparations should Hurricane Sandy impact our area, as currently forecast. FCPS is coordinating its efforts with and providing support to Fairfax County’s emergency management planning. If necessary, any delayed opening or school closing information will be communicated to parents through the FCPS Keep In Touch (KIT) system."

Emergency information for the schools is also posted on the FCPS website at www.fcps.edu, broadcast on Channel 21, posted on the FCPS Facebook and Twitter pages, and sent to local radio and television stations.
