Vice President Bob McDonnell?

The Virginia governor replacing Perry as chair of Republican Governor's Association, but is he interested in being on the 2012 presidential ticket?

Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell says he would be "very interested" in being on the Republican ticket as a vice presidential candidate in 2012.

McDonnell told Politico “I’m not asking for the call. I’m not looking for the call. As I’ve said many times, I’ve got the best job in America.

“But I think anybody who is in public life, if a presidential nominee called him and said, ‘I need your help to win,’ it would be a tremendous honor. … We’ll see. It’s going to be seven, eight, nine months before any of these decisions are made.”

McDonnell's profile is sure to rise as he is replacing Texas Gov. Rick Perry as chair of the Republican Governors Association. Perry entered the presidential race over the weekend.
