There's a new Garrison Commander at Fort Belvoir

Fort Belvoir is under new leadership as of today. On Monday morning, Belvoir's new commander, Col. Gregory Gadson received the Fort Belvoir command flag from outgoing commander Col. John Strycula.

Gadson, the Director of the U.S. Army Wounded Warrior Program, is a 27-year Army veteran with three Bronze Star medals, a Purple Heart and Iraq and Afghanistan combat medals. He's a graduate of West Point

Strycula, who was base commander since July 2010, oversaw the final stages of the Base Realignment and Closure implementation and a massive increase to the population of Belvoir. He is taking an assignment in Afghanistan.
