NOVA Congressman Jim Moran: Republican Budget Means Only Wealthy Win

The Northern Virginia Democrat released this statement following the passage of the Republican Fiscal Year 2014 Budget resolution.

Northern Virginia Rep. Jim Moran (D-8th) said that the recently passed Republican budget in the U.S. House of Representatives will cost the country two million jobs and "more than $5 trillion in tax cuts and giveaways to the wealthiest Americans."
“The budget proposed by the Republican majority today is an ideological document that lays out a path to prosperity for only the wealthiest Americans, while undermining our recovery and long term economic strength through deep cuts to investments in our infrastructure, education and research," said Moran in a statement.

The budget was passed on a 221-207 party-line vote, and would turn Medicaid into a voucher system and eliminate Obamacare subsidies.

Ryan made the following statement on the House floor on Thursday: The budget "would result in 500,000 more jobs and $1,500 more take-home pay for families. We would have 1.7 million more jobs and $4,000 more per family in the tenth year alone.

“So what can be done? The good news is that we now have a vehicle for regular order. Democrats derailed the budget process when they gave up governing a few years ago. Nearly four years without a budget. We brought them back in the game this spring. That is a good thing. In the weeks ahead, we will make the case for our approaches to the budget. We will try to make divided government work," said Ryan.
