Lorton Roadwork 'Pardon Our Dust' Meeting Scheduled

The meeting is scheduled for April 3 at the Workhouse Arts Center.

The Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) is inviting all interested parties to attend a pre-construction "Pardon Our Dust" meeting for the upcoming Lorton Road Improvements project. 

The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the construction activities, schedule, planned detours and other aspects of the project. This is an opportunity for Lorton residents to learn more about the three-year construction plan.

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 3, from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Workhouse Arts Center, McGuire Woods Gallery, 9601 Ox Road in Lorton.

The Lorton Road Improvement project, funded by Fairfax County, includes the widening of portions of Lorton Road, Workhouse Road and Furnace Road for a total project length of 2.5 miles. 

When completed, the roadway will be widened to four lanes with a raised median, improved safety features, dedicated turn lanes, on-road bike lanes, and share-use paths.

The work includes construction of two arch bridges over Giles Run and the Greenway Trail, and the installation of 8,500 feet of large diameter waterlines and 4,000 feet of sanitary sewer lines.
