Here's a look at the situation on the roads of Lorton. For information on roads in the DC Metro Area, check out the accompanying chart. Some important updates:
- Last Friday, Oct. 29, a 5-mile stretch of an additional lane on I-95 South was opened from the Fairfax Co Parkway to Route 1 in the Lorton area. It will save motorists an estimated 10-20 minutes to get to Occoquan.
- The through road between Furnace and Lorton Roads near Laurel Hill Park will be closed starting on October 25th and continuing through December 31st.
- The Fairfax County Parkway extension (Route 7100) is now open.
As part of the I-95 widening efforts the following will be worked on between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. unless otherwise noted.
- I-95 south from Exit 166, Fairfax County Pkwy. (Route 7100) to Exit 161, Richmond Hwy. (Route 1) - Two lanes closed Sunday - Friday nights 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for milling, paving and striping.
As part of the I-95 widening efforts the following will be worked on between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

- I-95 north between the Exit 160, Gordon Blvd. (Route 123) and one mile south of Exit 166, Fairfax County Pkwy (Route 7100) - Right lane closed Monday - Thursday for bridge work.
- I-95 south between Exit 166, Fairfax County Pkwy (Route 7100) and Exit 160, Gordon Blvd. (Route 123) - Right lane closed Monday - Thursday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for guardrail installation, paving, and barrier movement.
- I-95 reversible (HOV) lanes from Exit 166, Fairfax County Pkwy (Route 7100) to exit 160, Gordon Blvd. (Route 123) - Single lane closed Monday - Thursday for road work.

As part of the BRAC/Fairfax County Parkway Extension Project Richmond Hwy (Route 1) north and south at Gunston Rd. will operate at a single lane from Monday through Friday for bridge and utility work.
