A New Chapter and a New History

The Police Unity Tour commemorates law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty and raises funds for the National Law Enforcement Officers’ Memorial and Museum. 2011 marks the inaugural ride for Chapter IV of the Police Unity Tour, which includes a large number of officers from Fairfax County as well as law enforcement personnel from across the country. This year Chapter IV will be making a donation to the National Law Enforcement Officers’ Memorial Fund in excess of $100,000.

Chapter IV members will ride from Richmond to Washington D.C. over three days. They start their ride on Tuesday, May 10 from downtown Richmond and cycle to Charlottesville. On Wednesday, May 11 the riders will travel from Charlottesville to Warrenton. Chapter IV will arrive in Washington D.C. on Thursday, May 12 and participate in the Police Unity Tour Arrival Ceremony.

Chapter IV riders should reach Fairfax County around 9 a.m. on Thursday May 12, travelling along northbound Lee Highway (Route 29). Around 10:15 a.m. the riders will take a lunch break at the McConnell Public Safety and Transportation Operations Center, located at 4890 Alliance Drive. Around 11 a.m. the riders will continue their journey along Route 29 to Route 50 which will take them into Washington D.C.

The Police Unity Tour Arrival Ceremony will be held at the National Law Enforcement Officers’ Memorial, between 4th and 5th Streets, NW, Washington D.C. at 2 pm on Thursday, May 12.
