Suspect Arrested for Sub Shop Explosion

Horace Thompson was arrested by Washington Metropolitan Police on Feb. 14, after his release from the Washington Burn Center.

A 25-year-old man is in custody for allegedly igniting an incendiary device at the Sub Shop in Lorton last week.

Horace Thompson, 25, of no fixed address, was arrested by Washington Metropolitan Police on Feb. 14, after his release from the Washington Burn Center. He was arrested on a "Fugitive from Justice" warrant, and will be transferred to Fairfax County, where he will be served with warrants for arson of an occupied building and aggravated malicious wounding.    

Lawrence Reese, the owner of the Sub Shop, was inside at the time of the explosion, and suffered third degree burns. Read Reese's account of the incident here.

The FBI, the Fairfax County Fire Marshal's office, Police and K9 units were at the scene, which is still under investigation. Initial reports said a black male was seen, possibly injured, fleeing from the area after the explosion.
