Road and Bridge Damages Could Total $10 Million

Three bridges destroyed, dozens of roads damaged

It may cost up to $10 million to repair roads and bridges after last week's flooding from Tropical Storm Lee. Three bridges on secondary roads were destroyed and dozens of roads were damaged.

“Our initial assessment indicates that there could be up to $10 million in damages to bridges and roads in Fairfax County,” said Garrett Moore, Virginia Department of Transportation District Administrator for Northern Virginia. “We will make repairs as quickly as possible. We could even see more pavement and slope failures in the coming days, in addition to potholes.”

VDOT will have assessed more than 200 bridges by the end of the week.
