Police Charge Fairfax County Couple in Theft of School PTO Funds

Police say the amounts missing from the PTO are "in the thousands" of dollars.

Financial Crimes Unit detectives with the Fairfax County Police Department have charged a Lorton couple with alleged crimes surrounding their involvement with a Fairfax County elementary school Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). 

Amy King, 39, of Grayson’s Mill Lane, PTO president at Ft. Belvoir Elementary School, was charged with embezzlement on Tuesday. Her husband, Jermaine King, 40, was charged with grand larceny on Thursday, May 8.

Police say the amounts missing from the PTO are "in the thousands" of dollars.

Police were alerted to the situation on April 4, after a school employee noticed that checks were bouncing.

The allegedly stolen monies were part of the PTO’s general fund, raised by school fundraisers and PTO membership fees.

The investigation is ongoing.
