UPDATE: One Dead in Four-Alarm Fire in Lorton Tuesday Afternoon

Firefighters believe the deceased is a resident of the building.

UPDATE 6 p.m.: Four firefighters were injured in today's fatal fire in Lorton and dozens have been displaced from their apartments, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

One person has died in a four-alarm blaze Tuesday afternoon in Lorton, Fairfax County officials are confirming to media on the scene, according to NBC-4.

The fire erupted at an apartment building at about 3 p.m. in the 8200 block of Cat Bird Circle in Lorton.

Dozens of firefighters, battling the fire in 90-degee heat, were on the scene Tuesday to rescue people located on the second and third-level of their apartments.

One firefighter slipped and fell and was injured.

Firefighters are telling media they believe the deceased is a resident of the apartment building.
