A 39-year-old man was killed yesterday while crossing Richmond Highway in Engleside.
Ralph Holland, who lived in the 3400 block of Buckman Road, was crossing Richmond Highway from west to east shortly before 10:30 a.m. He was in the far left lane when he was struck by a 2000 Toyota Camry heading south on the highway. Holland was not in a crosswalk when he was hit.
Holland was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 20-year-old Alexandria woman, remained at the scene. Speed and alcohol are not factors in the crash, police said.
