Man Dies in Crash at Lorton Road and I-95 South Ramp

Police are determining if he suffered a medical emergency, which may have caused the accident.

A 71-year-old Lorton man is dead after a fatal crash at the intersection of Lorton Road and the I-95 South exit ramp, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

At around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Donald S. Mitchell of Lorton was killed after his 1999 Honda CRV crashed into the rear of another vehicle, crossed a median and hit a dump truck, police said. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, and police are investigating whether Mitchell suffered a medical emergency while driving, according to FCPD.

Mitchell's car first struck the rear of a 2010 Buick Lacrosse, which was driven by an 86-year-old Florida man.
