Lorton Man Arrested For Hit-And-Run, DWI and Assaulting Police Officer

Yishak Bekele, a 23-year-old Lortoner, was arrested on Sept. 19 for driving while intoxicated, not reporting an accident, driving without a license, driving an uninsured vehicle and assaulting a police officer. 

The incidents occurred at the northbound ramp to the Fairfax County Pkwy. off Telegraph Rd. Fairfax County Police were alerted of the crash at around 9:45 p.m. and found Bekele's 1997 Honda Civic and the 67-year-old uninjured victim with his 2011 Toyota Camry. 

"Allegedly the driver walked away and he was found shortly later by the officers," said Fairfax County Police spokesman Eddy Azcarate, adding that the arresting officer was assaulted "as the suspect resisted arrest."
