Lorton Crime: Body on the Occoquan, Stolen Cigarettes and Burglary

It was a busy week for crime in the Lorton area. Here are the top crime stories of the week, plus the weekly crime report from the Fairfax County Police Department.

Lorton Crime 

1. The body of 31-year-old Andrea Crew was recovered on the Occoquan River on Sat. Aug. 10, 2013. Her husband, 25-year-old Caleb Crew, was arrested for her murder.

2. A Lorton man was arrested by Virginia State Police for illegally transporting 1,500 cartons of cigarettes. The smokes did not have the proper tax stamps.

3. Officers from the Fairfax County Marine Patrol Unit conducted a Boating Under the Influence checkpoint. Officers inspected 42 boats and no BUI charges were made, and two Virginia uniform summonses and 24 safety warnings were issued.

4. Burglary: An iPhone was stolen from a residence in the 7600 block of Oakridge Ct. at around 10 a.m. on Aug. 7, 2013. The homeowner reported that entry was made into the home through an unsecured door.

5. A dog was stolen from a residence in the 7600 block of Fallswood Way.

6. A cell phone was stolen from a business in the 9400 block of Lorton Market Street.

7. A cell phone was stolen from a business in the 9700 block of Ox Road.
