Franconia Police District: Crime Dropped Nearly 7 Percent Last Year

District releases review of crime in 2011

Fairfax County Police Department's Franconia District Station issued a "year in review" today, noting a drop in crime last year, a GPS theft ring was busted in February and a prescription fraud task force was established early in the year and re-established later in the summer.

A Business Watch was created following a series of stolen lawn care equipment in the Lorton area. The district's Ghost Cruiser was out nearly every day in 2011. The district's Traffic Enforcement Officer wrote more than 2,700 citations this year and its Parking Enforcement Officer was busy in area neighborhoods helping to maintain the county’s code on parking restrictions.

The Franconia District includes parts of Lorton east of I-95 as well as Franconia, Rose Hill and Kingstowne. To see a map of the area, go here.
