Fire Damages Residence in Fairfax Station

Firefighters' work prevented wind from spreading blaze

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel were called to 8201 Cherry Ridge Road in Fairfax Station at 4:11 p.m. on Friday afternoon.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found the home engulfed in flames on the left side of the second floor. Firefighters were able to get the fire under control in about 20 minutes, according to Battalion Chief Chris Schaff.

“It was a great stop considering the amount of wind,” Schaff said.

The efforts of the firefighters prevented the home from being a total loss. The home is 25 years old and is the residence of the original owners. None of the family of three were at home at the time of the blaze.

The home is located at the end of a cul-de-sac and alert neighbors called in the fire. One firefighter was taken to the burn center with non-life-threatening injuries.
