Fatal Crash in Hybla Valley Area Wednesday Night

Pedestrian killed attempting to cross Route1 at Arlington Drive.

A 60-year-old man was killed after being struck by a car while he attempted to cross Route 1 (Richmond Highway) at Arlington Drive late Wednesday night, according to Fairfax County Police.

At around 11:23 p.m., police responded to a crash on Richmond Highway, police noted in a press release today. Robert Berry, with no fixed address, was crossing the road from the east side, near Arlington Drive.

A 58-year-old female, traveling northbound driving a 2010 Nissan Rogue struck Berry in the northbound lanes. Berry was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Nissan remained on the scene.

Crash Reconstruction Detectives responded to investigate the crash. Preliminary investigation indicates the victim was not in a crosswalk, and that alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors.
