Fairfax Police: Woman with a Child in her Car Speeds Away from Officer

A 38-year-old woman was charged with speeding away from police, driving without a license, child endangerment, and hit and run.
Maria Cruz de Alvarez was arrested in the incident. According to Fairfax County Police, at 8:38 a.m. Wednesday, a police officer conducted a traffic stop on a 2011 Ford Focus at the intersection of Braddock Road and Guinea Road.

The driver fled and struck a mailbox with her car, according to police. The driver eventually pulled over on the 4700 block of Gainsborough Drive. Authorities said that a 10-year-old child was in the car at the time. The child was not injured.
