Update: Body Found On Top of Tractor Trailer on I-95 Identified

38-year-old Gaithersburg man apparently committed suicide

The body found on top of a tractor trailer along Interstate 95 at exit 166 has been identified and the cause of death ruled a suicide.

On Tuesday, at around 2:30 p.m., Jeffrey Matheny, 38, of Gaithersburg was seen by a driver "falling" over a pedestrian overpass at the Woodrow Wilson Bridge and onto an open-bedded tractor trailer hauling waste products. 

The witness called 911, and the truck traveled about 11 miles before Virginia State Police pulled it over.

The body was taken to the Virginia Medical Examiner’s Office in Manassas, and the death was ruled a suicide. 

"The preliminary cause of death indicates trauma to multiple parts of the body," according to Maryland State Police
