Former Burke Volunteer Fire Department Chief Dies

James Belcher was also a retired lieutenant with the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department. His funeral is Thursday.

Burke resident and former chief of the Burke Volunteer Fire Department Station 14 passed away last week.

Chief James Belcher died on Friday, Oct. 18, according to a post on the Burke Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue's Facebook page.

Belcher was also a retired lieutenant with the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department.

There will be a viewing for Belcher at Everly Funeral Home in Fairfax on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m.

The funeral is scheduled for Thursday at 11 a.m. at Nativity Catholic Church, 6400 Nativity Ln. in Burke. Interment will follow at Mary of Sorrows Cemetery in Fairfax Station.
