Stout interjects her thoughts and feelings about her favorite images throughout the book: Regarding "Stickball Strike" depicting Overbrook... "The band rolled back the clock and took us to a simpler time. Where women strolled donning big bonnets and petticoats while children wore knickers and played stick ball and jump rope. I enjoyed watching the nostalgic performance. Seeing so many generations twirling round together made my heart happy.
" Regarding "Undead Pirate" depicting Polish American... "A wickedly jolly presentation of pirate life that included peg legs, eye patches and hook hands! The undead swashbucklers were my favorite.
