Gunston Hall to Host Scripps National Spelling Bee Participants
Mason Neck, VA - On Memorial Day, May 30, 2011 Gunston Hall, historic home of George Mason, will host 900 - 1,000 guests from the annual Scripps National Spelling Bee. Participants and their families will be in the Washington metropolitan area for five days, and their visit to Gunston will provide a respite from the competition.
Organizers of the Bee annually select an educational setting, often an historic site, where students and their families enjoy a day of recreation. While at Gunston Hall, young guests will tour George Mason’s mansion (c. 1759), play games, hike trails and take part in other family activities on the 550-acre estate.
