Weird News: 'Enchanted' Prom Proposal, Near-Naked Fountain Dancing, Beer Bust and a Raccoon Ruckus

And, hopefully we can find a home for Biscuit, the rebel Shih Tzu.

Editor's Note: Patch has 31 sites in Virginia and D.C., and not a day goes by that something weird isn't happening somewhere in the area. Here's a look back at some weird goings on over the past week.

"Enchanted" Promposal: Big romantic gestures are what make prom season so special, and viral videos are what make YouTube a hit. Add in a little Disney magic and you've got one of the season's most unusual prom proposals. Annandale High School senior Paige Britton thought she was meeting classmate Justice Garrish's family for a picnic. Instead she was treated to a musical extravaganza as friends and family reenacted the big number from Disney's 2007 Enchanted. "I had no idea," Britton said about Garrish's plan. "I didn't know whether to stay standing there or move away. The whole thing was so surreal."

Fountain Dancing: Any other week, you're at the top of weird when you strip to your boxers and dance around in a public fountain in front of a large crowd (and a camera phone) at Georgetown's Tony & Joe's. But it is no match against a coordinated musical number. Anyway, the fellow in this video entertained the masses, but lost his alcohol ID bracelet — buzz kill.

Stay Off the Path: Motorists are welcome to freeways, highways and parkways. But pedestrian and bike trails are for pedestrians and bikes. The distinction is lost on some as another driver was found turning onto the W&OD Trail this week. This time, the driver of a blue-green van was quickly alerted to her mistake by a jogger. The incident comes less than a week after an alleged drunk driver hit a bicyclist during a 5-mile trek down the W&OD Trail. Indeed, it is "weird" that this happened again. It is serious that steps need to be taken so this doesn't happen again.

Catch Biscuit, While You Can: Biscuit is the rare Shih Tzu that can fend for itself. After eluding animal control officers for two years, he was captured earlier this spring. The vet removed more than 40 ticks and treated Biscuit for a skin infection. Other than that, the small pup is in good health. He's ready for adoption, but still may be hard for you to catch. Shelter staff say they'll be taking applications and choose the best owner.

Two Suspects Walk Into a Bar…: Victims of credit card theft usually get their money back, but there is rarely any promise that the perpetrators will see their day in court…except when the suspects are easily found enjoying a comfortable bar stool. Fairfax City Police were on the trail of a stolen credit card used at Red Zone Grill on May 27. When officers arrived, they were directed to two suspects who allegedly used the card to start a tab and were still enjoying their free night out.

Fear of Furry Family: Wild animals can be a real bother in a suburban neighborhood — most of the time. Alexandria animal control officers responded to several complaints in the Usher Avenue area regarding the neighborhood's new family of raccoons living in a tree. Turns out, the raccoons were healthy, harmless and hopefully willing to cut their new human neighbors some slack for thinking the worst.
