Gunston Hall hosts Scripps National Spelling Bee Participants

Over 900 people enjoyed the afternoon at Gunston Hall.

Gunston Hall played host yesterday to the Scripps National Spelling Bee. The 275 participants in this year’s bee are from around the U.S.  Buses brought over 900 people from downtown D.C. out to see George Mason’s home. A large tent was set up on the grounds and Smokey Glen Farm served barbeque and sweet tea. Large inflatable slides were set up for children to play on and Gunston Hall had historical demonstrations throughout the day.
