The individuals involved in a violent car crash last night at approximately 9:15 on Richmond Highway near Fairfax County Parkway, miraculously escaped serious injury despite a collision that scattered debris hundreds of yards across Route 1.

According to witnesses, Fairfax County police began pursuit of a late model Cadillac near the intersection of Gunston Cove and Richmond Highway in Lorton. Police continued high-speed pursuit northbound on Richmond Highway. Just north of the entrance to Fairfax County Parkway the Cadillac came upon a Connector bus in the right lane and a late model Lincoln in the left. Witnesses said the Cadillac attempted to pass the vehicles on the left but lost control of the vehicle, colliding with the Lincoln from behind and the bus in front of the Gas N’ Go at 9180 Richmond Highway.

The bus had minor damage and pulled over onto the shoulder, but the force of the collision sent the Lincoln across the southbound lane and into the fence of a private residence.

David Hoxsey was filling his truck with gas at the Hess Station a few hundred feet from the accident and was the first civilian to arrive at the scene. Hoxsey attempted to extract the driver of the Lincoln from his car without success initially. The magnitude of the impact caused the driver to be tossed into the back seat of his vehicle. When Hoxsey was finally able to get the driver out of the car he appeared to be unconscious. He regained consciousness and was taken to the emergency for non life-threatening injuries.

According to Hoxsey and other witnesses, police placed the driver of the Cadillac under arrest within moments of the accident.

The driver of the Lincoln was identified as Farhan Ali by his brother-in-law Sohil Sabir. Sabir said Ali had recently purchased the Lincoln as he is an independent limousine driver. Both the Lincoln and the Cadillac sustained severe damage.

Official charges for the driver of the Cadillac have not been announced.
