Friends of Mason Neck State Park at 4th of July Parade

Six Friends of the park, including park manager Jess Lowrie, marched in the parade carrying signs and banners and handing out "vote for the park" flyers, and then manned a table to answer questions and hand out more flyers.

It looks like Veterans Memorial Park in Moore, OK is pulling away in first place in the Coca Cola contest. We don't feel too bad about that because both the city and the park were devastated by a tornado in May. But we really would like to hold on to second place and its $50,000 prize, especially because MNSP has never had money to get exhibits for its new exhibits room.

July 5 is also a double vote day, when every vote counts twice. You can register and vote at the Coke site--livepositively.com. While you're there, don't forget to also link to the other two sites, FourSquare.com, where you can cast 5 votes a day, and MapMyFitness.com, where you can cast 10 votes a day.

Or take the easy way and just send an email to the park supporters at voteforwildlife@gmail.com and they will set up all three sites for you.

Thanks for supporting Mason Neck State Park--to be in second place out of more than 10,000 parks in the contest is pretty good!
